Hi, I'm Jess

I’m an editor and writer living in the Pacific Northwest. I was forged in the fires of creative writing workshops and student journalism at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma.

I develop characters, build worlds, engineer narrative arcs, and generally care way too much about the difference between less and fewer.

Jessica is an amazing editor. I really appreciate her thoroughness, promptness, and attention to detail. I will definitely work with her again!

What You Can Expect

  • I edit with the preservation of your voice front of mind. You will be polished, and you will sound like you. Wordplay encouraged.
  • Pursuit of the perfect word. “A dress with long sleeves with poofs at the top” becomes “a dress with Juliet sleeves.” When that very specific word exists, I’ll find it.
  • Devotion to accuracy. Misinformation is way too much of a problem for me to contribute to it.
  • No AI in my editing process.
  • Feedback intended to level you up as a writer.

Other Stuff

I dabble. A lot. Enough to resent a 24-hour day for being too short. I’m generally fixating on a new skill, whether that’s playing violin poorly, or Python.

I love backcountry hiking with my hammock and my partner, gardening with my cat acting as my shadow, feeding “my” crows, learning, gaming and creating.

The editor is seemingly incapable of making a normal face for a selfie, here she combines a fish face and crossed eyes while standing on the beach, wearing a black hoodie and leather jacket. The sun is setting, it's a gorgeous day, but the wind is blowing her green hair.
